Harry Potter In The Forest Again

So here you go. A new comic (second one of this year)

To start with: If you didn't get that, "Al D" is a nickname for "Albus Dumbledore" XD

I've been so busy with school lately that I've hardly had any free time at all and therefore I haven't been able to draw so much. But now I finally got around to finish this one

I came up with the idea while watching a marathon at home of the last two Harry Potter movies (I've wanted to do that ever since I found out the last movie would be split into two parts ). I must be totally insensitive for coming up with such an idea during such a sad scene, and then doing a comic about it too! But then again, I've done a comic earlier making fun of the sad ending of Twilight Princess too, so perhaps it's a pattern ... ([link] Just so you know, it's an old one)

And if you didn't get the point of the comic, this is Harry Potter about to face his death, allowing Voldemort to kill him, in the Forbidden Forest, in the last book. He takes out the Snitch because he thinks Dumbledore has left something for him there, but when he does open it he finds out Dumbledore just trolled him. XD Also, he left a note (the one saying "U mad") xD

Well, you never know with ol' Al D, huh? Pretty unpredictable guy ... xD

I colored this one with colored pencils. This is my third Harry Potter comic and I've colored them all using colored pencils. I wonder if it's going to be my standard technique for HP comics? I just think it fits ... (also why are two out of three of my HP comics about Harry in some forest? XD I've heard people requesting more Ron x Hermione comics. Don't worry though, I've got at least two more Ron x Hermione comic ideas that I guess I'll draw some time when I get the scripts done)!

I think the art (especially the coloring) turned out unusually good in this one. I've taken more caution to the way light affects objects than usually (to explain more clearly; in the forest the light is green, so therefore Harry, the trees and the ground are affected by the light and colored in a greenish hue). I really like the result. Also I like the panel with Harry's silhouette. Think that turned out good.

I really wanted to "set the mood" with the first tree panels to trick the reader into thinking this was gonna be a serious comic at first XD But ooohhh noooo ...

Also, I took a lot of inspiration from the scene in the movie when I drew this, but I changed everything to be more true to the book. For example, I drew the Snitch more true to the book description (and J K Rowling's own drawings) than the movie version is, I changed Harry's hairstyle to look more in the book etcetera. And oh, why I drew him with a beard? Well that's because he's been living in the forest a lot lately and I imagine he hasn't had a lot of time to shave himself. Possibly that would mean his hair would be longer than usual too, but how do you draw Harry's hair when it's longer? It grows in such a strange way. O_o
I tried drawing Harry's nose a different shape this time. I guess to make him look more different from my Ron and Hermione designs. What do you think?

Also I forgot to make Harry's bag (the one hanging from his neck) look like it was made of mokeskin. At least I remembered to draw the bag. Give me creds for that. XD Now it just looks like a regular leather purse, when it's supposed to be silver green and scaly. Anyway, at least I'll know that next time I draw it. It's just a detail. xD
