My first ever painting with oils!!

In school we were supposed to learn how to paint with oils, and I had never done it before though I'd been told I was good at acrylics. For this painting we used a particular technique; First we painted the motif in black and white, using egg tempera colours. This was the most difficult part for me. Then we used oil paints to paint over the tempera and thereby "colouring" it. Finally I used oil paints for touch-up until I was satisfied.

I referenced a black-and-white ink drawing of a drapery. The task was to paint the same motif but in oils and in colour. I chose to colour it in purple. And in the end I really liked how this came out. It was very interesting to get to paint like the old masters did. Hope you like it too! I'll post the reference I used here when I get a hold of it.
